About Us

Robinson Ballet is reaching more people than ever before. The quality of our work has risen to new levels, and we continue to challenge ourselves. We look forward to building on this momentum and hope that each year more and more members of the community will join us in our commitment to become a part of our vision.

School performances, lecture demonstrations, and master classes have always been an internal part of Robinson Ballet Company's  commitment to increasing dance awareness. Since 1985 the Company has reached thousands of children with its educational programs. This growing in-school presence touches children who might not otherwise have the opportunity to experience dance. These programs help build future audiences and encourage an appreciation of dance as an art form.

Robinson Ballet dancers and teachers travel to schools and instruct students in fundamental dance technique and perform short pieces highlighting different styles of dance.

  • Lecture Demonstrations
  • Mini-Performance
  • Workshops/Master Classes

You can sponsor an educational program in your school for as little as $350. Invite your friends to pool their resources to make dance a part of your children's curriculum; or call us to talk about your ideas. Robinson Ballet is always seeking more and different opportunities to educate and serve the public through dance.

Maureen Lynch - Artistic Director

Maureen is from southern Maine and, as a young dancer, performed with the Maine State Ballet under the direction of Polly L. Thomas. When she began training with Ralph Robinson, she found his new company to be challenging and inspiring both physically and artistically. Under his guidance and encouragement, Maureen performed classical and new creative works, taught children, and tried her hand at choreography. In the 1980’s she traveled to Europe with her husband, Keith Robinson, where they worked as soloists for the Ballet Classique de Paris, out of Paris, France and Balleto Athenon in Athens, Greece. Maureen hopes that through her work with the Robinson Ballet she can provide young Maine dancers with the opportunities that were given to her, help educate children to the art of dance, and continue to provide our communities with quality dance productions.

Jeff Ferrell - Technical Director

Jeff worked his first Nutcracker for Robinson Ballet in 1988 as a student at the University of Maine and hasn’t missed a year since. In 1999 Jeff became Technical Director for RBC and is in charge of all of the elements that you, as the audience, are not supposed to notice at all if he does his job right! Jeff does lighting design and other theater work for many area groups including the Grand Auditorium and a few local dance troupes. Although Jeff’s interests in theater are generally focused on backstage and lighting, he can occasionally be found on stage where his love of theater actually started. In his real life, Jeff works in a group home in Bangor and lives in Bucksport with his wife, Sylvia and daughters Hannah and Aliyah.
